Lee Stocking Island/Little Farmers Cay

April, 2003

On Thursday, March 27th we left Georgetown and we had a great sail to Lee Stocking Island.  While sailing along, we caught a fish ... actually a shark about 3 feet long.  It was very exciting ... I reeled it in and Rankin killed and fileted it.  Okay, so Rankin did most of the work ... I did cook it that evening, Broiled Spicy Shark -- mmm, mmm.

I am realing her in!!!        She put up a fight the whole way        Check out the bait

The next day we picked up a mooring near the Caribbean Marine Research Center located on Lee Stocking Island and took a quick tour.   Nothing very exciting to report, but it was interesting.  We left Lee Stocking Island on Saturday, March 29th and sailed to Little Farmers Cay.

We arrived in Little Farmers Cay the same day and grabbed a mooring.  However, on Sunday we discovered the mooring didn't hold and was dragging -- not fun, but better to find out sooner rather than later.  The weather reports we downloaded indicated a storm, so it was a good time to move and find better protection and holding.  So, off we went in search of shelter.

On Sunday, March 30th we left Little Farmers Cay and anchored south of Big Farmers Cay.  We spent the next three days hunkered down waiting out the storm.  It came and went bringing winds up to 30 knots and some rain.  Our anchor held (YEAH!) though we didn't get much sleep during our stay.   By Wednesday, April 2nd we were ready to head north.   We spent a day at Black Point Settlement and then sailed to Staniel Cay.
