June, 2004
On Friday, June 25th, we left Portsmouth, Dominica about 6 a.m. (see we get up early...sometimes), sailed to St. Pierre, Martinique and arrived about eleven hours later. Needless to say, we recovered the rest of the day. The next day we joined up with Centime and Gladys and tried to check into customs. No luck with customs, so we enjoyed a leisurely breakfast of croissants and coffee. Since St. Pierre was having their weekly market, we stopped and brought some fresh fruits and vegetables. Since we couldn't check in with customs at St. Pierre, we decided to continue our travels south to Fort de France. On Saturday, June 26th, we sailed to Fort de France, Martinique and here's a photo of Gladys and Centime. Fort de France is a metropolitan area which most of the time we try to avoid. We did go into town and tried to check in with customs again ... you guessed it, customs was closed. So, we walked around town a bit, but unfortunately everything seemed to be closed for the time being. Later that evening, we did have dinner and toured around a local student art exhibit. We left Fort de France on Sunday, June 27th and anchored one night at Anse a L'Ane before sailing to Marin, Martinique on Monday, June 28th. Marin is a good location for boat work, laundry, internet access, etc. So, we explored the town a bit, did some quick boat projects, and enjoy some local meals before sailing off to St. Lucia. Take a look at What's Happening to see the latest. Don't forget ... keep coming back. |
