Tobago Cays

July/August, 2004

Our first visit to Tobago Cays was on Friday, July 16th, and we've been back several times sometimes with friends and other times with family each experience unique and amazing.

Tobago Cays is a fairly remote area.   There are three islands which surround the anchorage and on the fourth side is a huge reef called Horseshoe Reef.  There are no hotels or restaurants in the area, however, there are local men who will sell fresh bread, fresh fish and vegetables from their boat.  They will even pick up your garbage though this is not recommended.  The seclusion is a nice break and there's still plenty of snorkeling and hiking to keep you occupied not to mention socializing with other cruisers.  Here are some of our photos.

Our first sunset at Tobago Cays    A man selling fresh fish from his boat ... it was delicious    We call this man "Free Willy" and he sells t-shirts, flags & other items from his boat

While in Tobago Cays, we went to a dinghy raft up ... nice way to meet people & enjoy a cocktail    Loretta & Wayne from Conch Daddy hosted a dinner party aboard their boat    Pat (Centime) & Loretta having a great time at the party

My niece (Amanda) snorkeling for the first time    Jamesby Island at Togabo Cays

During the months of July and August, we've sailed back and forth between Grenada and Tobago Cays, and I'm sure we'll come back again because of its spectacular beauty and pristine environment.  Our travels around the Grenadines have taken us to several islands and another island that we frequent is Union Island ... take a look.
