Our first stop in the U.S. Virgin Islands was the island of St. John. Did you know that the Virgin Islands National Park covers 9,485 acres of St. John. It is reflected in the pristine environment of this beautiful island. Once we got within view of the island, we couldn't wait to start exploring the land and cays. So, we grabbed a mooring at Leinster Bay on the north coast of St. John. Besides snorkeling around the cay (pronounced "key"), we took a hike along the trail that leads to Annaberg Sugar Mill. Here are some photos of our trip to St. John and of the sugar mill. Time was running out, so we sailed back to St. Thomas for Janie's departure back to the states. As always, we were very sad to see her leave and wish our visit could have been longer. See you again soon, Janie. Since we were at the Crown Bay Marina, it was time to do a few chores again (i.e. laundry, provisioning, etc.). Once our tasks were done, we anchored off Charlotte Amalie in St. Thomas (USVI), and hooked up with our cruising friends again. We had a chance to enjoy a few cocktails and catch up at a place that we fondly called the "banana place" because they made these great banana drinks (no we don't remember the name of the bar or the name of the drinks). Anyway, check out the pictures below. After our quick visit in St. Thomas we stop at a few other places on St. John. We visited Coral Bay where we stopped at the famous Skinny Legs Bar and Cinnamon Bay where we swam with the turtles. Take a look below. Now it's time to visit the British Virgin Islands or you can see any updates of our travels by clicking on the What's Happening. Don't forget ... keep coming back. |
