St. Kitts/Nevis

May, 2006

We left Barbuda on Tuesday, May 16th and used the spinnaker for a large portion of the trip.  It was a nice trip we caught a barracuda along the way, but unfortunately two other fish got away.  We arrived in Nevis around 5 p.m. and joined our friends Don & Olga on the sailing vessel Richard Cory.  We arranged a plantation tour for the next day.  Our tour guide Teach (he used to be a teacher ...and a very good one too) took a group of us (Rankin, myself, Don, Olga, Matt & Sue on Luludu) around to the many old sugar plantations on Nevis.  Most of these old sugar plantations have been restored and made into restaurants and resorts.  They were beautiful and our tour was enhanced greatly by our wonderful and knowledgeable tour guide and our pleasant companions.  We still hadn't replaced our digital camera yet, so our friends Don and Olga were kind enough to share their photos with us.  Below are some of the pictures from our tour around Nevis.

We didn't have much time in Nevis ... we needed to keep moving so on Thursday, May 18th we raised anchor and sailed to St. Kitts.  Our friends, Don & Olga joined us and again we toured the island of St. Kitts together.  It was a very pleasant experience good company though our tour guide was no Teach (our Nevis tour guide).  We did take pictures of St. Kitts with our video camera and though the quality isn't as good we thought we share some of these pictures with you.

We had a wonderful time exploring with Don & Olga often laughing until late in the evening.  We will miss traveling with them, but unfortunately, it was time for us to go our own way ... Don and Olga south and we were headed north to St. Barts.  Come with us to St. Barts or if you would like to catch up on the latest travels, take a look at What's Happening.  Don't forget ... keep coming back.
