January to November, 2009
We were docked in the center of historical downtown Annapolis, Maryland "Sailing Capital of the World". It's a beautiful city and we had the best view. Though we would have rather had warmer temps, we really enjoyed our stay and that's a good thing, because we decided to work for a change. Yes, that's right ... okay, Rankin just put me back to work. We were serious about working, we even bought a cute little car. So, Rankin and I began distributing our resumes to various businesses in Annapolis and DC. While waiting for job opportunities, we explored this lovely, quaint city and have a few pictures below.
We didn't have much play time because the next thing we knew we both had jobs. I got a job with the United States Naval Academy in their information technology division and Rankin got a job as a boat captain/comedian with the local water taxi service. I loved my time at the Academy, the people were wonderful and it was a beautiful walk to work. I am not sure if Rankin loved his job, but I think he had a good time scaring the little kids. Here are a few more pictures. However, it's cold up here and it's snows ... can you believe it. We worked until around November and decided perhaps another winter in Annapolis wasn't such a good idea. We said goodbye several times to friends (new and old), had everything checked out on the boat I mean everything (water maker, engine, rigging ... you get the picture) and began cruising south to the Bahamas. After a month of slowly making our south, we finally arrived in Vero Beach, Florida in December where we waited another month for a weather window to cross over to the Bahamas. If you wish to continue the adventure just click the Bahamas link or take a look at What's Happening to get the latest scoop. It also never hurts to just relax and spend a little time clicking around. Enjoy! |
